Purpose To state City policy on the use of City hydrants for car washes.

Policy Statement 1. A Car Wash Permit is required
2. Hydrants shall only be operated by City personnel
3. Groups/organizations are not permitted access to hydrant water more than twice a year.
4. Only garden hose connections to the hydrant shall be permitted. A maximum of two (2) such connections to any one hydrant are permitted.
5. The City reserves the right to revoke a permit if the car wash is deemed to be a public safety hazard.
6. Car Wash Permits will be issued between April 15th and October 31st (dates are weather dependent). A permit may be revoked at any time in the event of water shortage or for other reasons as determined by the City.
7. If a hydrant is privately owned, the group/organization shall obtain permission from the hydrant owner for City personnel to operate the hydrant.
