Under and by virtue of the powers conferred by Section 207 of the Highway Traffic Act being Chapter 82 of the 1962 Statutes of Newfoundland and pursuant to a delegation of power by the Minister of Highways dated the 28th day of January, A.D., 1963, to the St. John's Municipal Council under Section 209 of the Act, and pursuant to all other powers it enabling, the St. John's Municipal Council in regular session convened on this 1st day of February, A.D., 1978, hereby passes and enacts the following By-Law relating to speed limits of motor vehicles in the City of St. John's:
BY-LAW
1. This By-Law may be cited as the Speed Limit By-Law of the City of St. John's.
2. Subject to Section 3 of this By-Law, a driver shall not drive a vehicle at a greater speed than 50 kilometers per hour in the City of St. John's.
3. Where a speed limit is prescribed by a traffic sign in the City of St. John's fixing a speed limit greater or lower than 50 kilometers per hour, a driver of any vehicle shall not exceed the rate of speed so fixed by such traffic sign. |
